Gain New Skills with the Hospitality Plus Programme

We’re excited to announce our newest training programme, Hospitality Plus!

The Hospitality sector across Derry/Londonderry and the Causeway Coast is booming, with increasing tourism numbers creating new opportunities for a long-term career. To help people enter this growing sector, Hospitality Plus (funded by the Department for the Economy and the European Social Fund) will run at our Foyle Employment Training Centre in City Factory. The programme will focus on helping people who have been unemployed or economically inactive (for example due to study, ill-health or caring duties) gain skills to return to work.

Led by our Work Activity Trainer/Chef at PeoplePlus NI’s popular Hub Cafe, Hospitality Plus will help participants learn new skills and gain practical experience whilst ultimately helping them find a job using their new skills.

Over the 4 week intensive programme, participants will:

  • Earn an accredited L1 qualification in Food Safety
  • Gain practical experience through a 1 week work placement in hospitality
  • Learn practical employability skills, such as interview prep and CV writing
  • Work one-on-one with a mentor while meeting new people in the community through group training

With six month post-programme support, PeoplePlus NI and our mentors will help participants put their new skills to use through employment.

The programme is open to any one who is:

  • Aged 18-64
  • Unemployed/economically inactive, and
  • Living in either the Derry City & Strabane Council area or the Causeway Coast & Glens Council area

Details for the first course are below:

30 April – 25 May
City Factory
19 Queen St
